I thought you said "relatively normal?"

What is normal...I honestly don't know. I'm pretty weird myself. :bonk: I guess just want someone nice, fun to be around, honest, caring, smart, etc. Oh, and he would have to tolerate my quirks, moods, and stuff. Is that too much to ask for? :puppydog:

Apparently.

Seriously, isn't that what most people are looking for?

From Seinfeld:

Elaine: "You're saying 95% of the population is undatable?"

Jerry: "Undatable!!"

Elaine: "Then how are all these people getting together?"

Jerry: "Alcohol."

:hehe: :hehe: :hehe:

From Yahoo! Personals:

Relationship Roadkill: 5 Ways to Get Over a Breakup, Fast!

By Elina Furman Special to Yahoo! Personals
Updated: Dec 20, 2007

After the last box of tissues is emptied, the tears have dried up, and the remaining pint of ice cream inhaled, you wonder: Now what? You're still not over the breakup, but you're finally ready to move on.
Everyone's heard the rule: Getting over the relationship takes half as long as the relationship itself. But sometimes you don't have months -- or even years -- to muddle through the getting-over process. Here are the top 5 ways to speed up the healing process:

1. Toss the Evidence
Whether it's a designer watch or one of those Cracker Jack box rings your ex found, your first order of business is to discard every little item that he/she ever gave you. Photos, letters, sweet post-its that say "I love you" -- all of this must be trashed. And that also goes for items you have hidden away. Even if no one else knows what's in your arsenal of romantic keepsakes, you'll know you're holding on to the past and it will take that you much longer to get over the breakup.

2. Don't Discuss It, Ever!
We've all been around people who can't stop talking about their exes. But don't be surprised to find out that more you talk about them, the harder it will to be to move on. The same goes for other people bringing up the topic. If someone asks how your ex is, refrain from ranting and politely tell them you haven't spoken in a while.

3. List Their Flaws
When we're in love, it's not uncommon to gloss over each other's flaws and inadequacies for the sake of keeping the peace. Of course, once you're out of the union, all bets are off. You're fully entitled to list of all their annoying qualities that drove you crazy. If they snored at night, ate with their mouths open, were rude to your friends, or laughed like a hyena, make sure you write everything down. The longer the list, the shorter your post-breakup recovery.

4. Be More Selective
There are two schools of thought: some people believe that the best way to get over someone is to get out and circulate, while others will tell you that dating too soon is a bad idea. The truth is if you go out and start dating every person who asks you, you're bound to end up on some disastrous dates and your ex will seem so much better in comparison. If you don't date at all, you'll risk sitting around and wallowing in a sea of boredom and despair. The key is to be very selective about your dates and only go out with singles who inspire you or, at the very least, won't send you running back into the arms of your ex.

5. Make Up for Lost Time
Even the best relationships require compromise, which is why you should make the first month out of the relationship all about YOU! Make a list of all the things you postponed or avoided doing because your ex hated it. Whether it's going to see a foreign film, watching ESPN, or planning a night out with your best buds, this is a great opportunity to get back in touch with those parts of your personality you may have left by the wayside.

LMAO. Gotta love Seinfeld. Unfortunately, that 95% thing really seems to be true though. At least from my pov.

Personally, I'd prefer a nice guy any day. Back when I was younger (and probably stupid :hehe: ), I would've gone for the more exciting bad boy type, but I just want someone who has stability and someone I can see myself growing old with. That sounds like such a cheesy cliche.

That seems to be the norm.

That sounds like such a cheesy cliche.

I think there's a huge buncha of people who believe in that credo in one way or another... :victory:

I wish there were more women like you, haha. Part of my problem is that I'm shy...once I'm in a relationship there's usually no problem for me, but actually meeting a woman is the hard part for me, lol. I mean...I don't really like picking up women from bars, even if I like to go there to blow off steam. And work is a no-no. I learned my lesson recently  . Gotta find other places.

Yeah, but where the heck are those people hiding? I think that this is just one of those myths you only hear about. :beaten:

I wish there were more guys like you. I'm not one for going to bars or any of those social places. Hell, I don't think there are many places in Hawaii to go socializing anyway, so it's pretty hard to meet someone unless you randomly go up to someone or if it's a friend of a friend.

You're probably right and it's sad because a lot of us who are online are probably looking for someone special irl, but since we are holed up indoors, that ain't gonna happen unless we join one of those dating sites. And quite honestly, I doubt I can find anyone decent on this island who'd join a dating site, so I'm bound to fail at that too. I'm just a ball of sunshine, aren't I.

Really? I guess unless you're in a larger city, there probably aren't a lot of socializing places. I didn't really go to bars until after I moved down by San Francisco. A lot more public transport than in the north bay.

I guess so. Oh, maybe I could find myself a computer geek this way! ;)

If I were on Oahu, I can totally see there being tons of places to go to, but I'm on one of those other islands. Maybe I should move to get a better social life. :hehe:

Not that you know me or anything, haha. I've been AWOL off these boards for a year.
