Just rename the mp4 to avi.

VirtualDub can handle avi editing as easily as Womble handles mpg. :)

Seriously? I never thought of that... I have Virtual Dub, it's easy to use.

I think it should work: I've renamed mp4 files to avi just to get Media Player to play them without a hitch. :)

But I've never actually tried to edit a file, so I could be wrong.

I'll have to try that :)

I tried out VideoReDo TV Suite last night for editing ads out of an episode of The Iron Chef I recorded on my DVD recorder. The actual ad cutting part works really well, I haven't checked the results on my DVD player yet but from what I saw on my PC you can't even see the cuts. I don't think i'll be using the DVD authoring part though... it's pretty basic.

I watched some of the DVD last night. The results were fantastic - seamless, as beem said. Because it was recorded on a DVD recorder from a SD digital broadcast, the original picture was perfect, and because this program doesn't re-encode, the resulting DVD was just as good

Now, all I need is some JDramas to be broadcast on Aussie TV :fingerscrossed:

Right on...

Now that's a tougher task, apparently.

I ended up downloading Avidemux http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/ which is a free editor that opens MP4 files natively. Seems to work fine :) It seems a bit like VirtualDub.

I think mp4 files are essentially avi files: they just chose a different extension to differentiate themselves from the rest of the pack.

Makes you wonder why progs like VirtualDub don't recognise them :headscratch:

It's probably looking at the extension and nothing else.

I will try changing the extension: The only file I had was burned to CD so I would have had to copy it to my HD before doing anything. Seemed like too much trouble last night ;)

Hmm... no Juri or Ryoko so I'm

And I'm done with the first disc of Osen. Maybe I'll start on something else if this damn download would finish. :grumble:

I had to start authoring various dramas & movies to DVD because i'm running out of space on my HD. I saw 500G external HD's for sale for $98 the other day. I should have bought one :(

Neither did the Kuitan series.

Or Koi ni Ochitara.

Or the Trick series.

Or the Jiko Keisatsu series.

Or Galileo.

Or Kekkon Dekinai Otoko.

So there. :P :P :P :P :P
