Uh, you've gotta be more detailed with your descriptions: what is "it?"

And what are you trying to do?

I am trying to edit out the commercials from that mpeg that I converted. When I save the edited file, it is saved as that weird application like those 3 files in the picture I uploaded, which can only be viewed by that Video Wizard program. I don't know how to get Video Wizard to save my finished product as an mpeg.

When using MPEG Video Wizard, I cut the sections I want to keep and paste them in sequence on the timeline, then I use the Export tool to create the completed MPEG file.

I don't think I pasted them on the timeline thing, which was my mistake. I guess the walk-through that I was using was a different version because it did not have a timeline and I had no idea what that bar thing on the bottom was.

And an Export tool? I have to download something else to do that?

The Export tool is part of MPEG Video Wizard.... It's located on the bar where the words "MPEG Video Wizard" is located.

What bar? Are you talking about a bar when the program itself is open? I'm not even sure if I have the right version that you're talking about: http://www.corichan.com/Images3/mpegvideowizard2.jpg

I don't have that "MPEG Video Wizard" bar on my version.

I think they all do... You have to enable it, I think.

I think I need a guide on how to enable the bar. :beaten: :shamefulcry:

What version are you using?

Version 4.0.4.108. I'm beginning to think that it's because I'm using a trial version that it doesn't come with all the extra stuff that I need to actually save/edit files, which sucks.

Btw, I really like this program. :D I compared it to the one that AD is using and I find that this one is great because it has that backwards button thingy, which is really convenient, so I hope that I can get it to work. :fingerscrossed:

ETA: Ooh, never mind. I got it to work. I guess all I needed to do was hit the "export" button on the bottom of the screen (button with the red dot) and it worked out perfectly. :victory:

Now to edit the file again so each episode stands alone. I don't know why the first and last episode are on the same disc.

Probably because whomever made the disc used some lame one-button conversion/encoding/authoring program...

But I have a feeling that the person first recorded from VHS tapes then converted it to DVD, which doesn't make any sense when I think about it so maybe you're right.

Anyway, now I have to figure out when one episode finishes and when the next one ends, which isn't that easy since one episode is split between 3 discs and other episodes are recorded right after it. Oi, this is getting annoying and I'm so glad that I'm not this bad when recording stuff. I think. :beaten:

That's one of the nice things about Video Wizard: you can cut clips from various videos and paste them together in any order you want.... Perfect of the episodes are split up in an odd way and need re-ordering.

Cool. I really think this program is wonderful and if it can splice things together, I'm loving it even more. Thanks for the awesome rec, beem. :D

And on a non-positive side, I'm in the process of authoring another drama, but when I checked the video with the .srt softsubs, the softsubs do not appear. This happens for the first 2 episodes, but the 3rd and 4th episode are fine. I have renamed the video and softsubs so they have the same name, but it still doesn't show up. I'm using DivX to watch the files. Any clues on what to do? (Sorry if this is in the wrong thread)

ETA: Same thing is happening with another series too, only none of the subs are working with this one. :(

Are the sub files .srt?

Is the video .avi?

If there's something wrong with only a couple of episodes, then there's something wrong with the video and/or the sub file.

Subs are .srt and video is .avi

I'm trying to redownload the files. For the second series I mentioned, NONE of the .srt subs show up with the .avi files. I don't know what's going on. :(

Does it work if you try to hardsub any of those episodes?

It's more than likely that there's something wrong with the sub files...

EDIT: Make sure that the problem .srt files are ASCII text and not UTF-8... If they are, save 'em as ASCII text.

I think that's what went wrong with the second series--the .srt files were in UTF-8. For the first 2 episodes of the first series I mentioned, they are all in the ASCII text format.

Btw, I don't hardsub them myself. If I get started on that, I will definitely have a ton of questions and I don't think you or anyone wants that headache.

Hmm.

There's gotta be something wrong with the srt file...
