There's gotta be something wrong with the srt file...
Probably. Oh, and I changed it from UTF-8 to ASCII and the subs still didn't work.

What sub files are these?
Lemme take a look at 'em...
cori wrote:They're for Yasuko to Kenji. Here's the link for the first episode's subs:

Hmm, when I open the file with Subtitle Workshop and a video file there doesn't seem to be any problem...
cori wrote:It works in the Subtitle Workshop for me too. Well, except the video isn't there.
bmwracer wrote:
No video? :headscratch:
So you can watch the video itself, but no subs and you can see the subs in Subtitle Workshop, but no video....
I've never seen this problem before... Ever.
You really know how to pick the dramas.
cori wrote:I think I'm just one of those special people who can make everything not work for them. Yay me? :bonk: Oh, and I also sent the subs to one of my other friends and it worked with the video for him. Strange.
With that said, I'm trying to author it to DVD so I'm hoping that it works. :fingerscrossed:

It'd be quicker if you just used VirtualDub and hardsubbed the thing.
cori wrote:I did the DVD authoring and it worked! I'm happy that it did, but I'm still confused about why it's not viewable on my laptop. Or maybe there's things that don't need answers. Thanks for your help again, beemie. I hope you didn't pull out too much hair this time. :beaten:

That's why you use rewritables.
But don't you have to finalize it if you want it to be able to be read by a computer? I have to go check on this..

Her DVD recorder doesn't have a USB port. :P
Yeah, mine is an older model and I don't think it has USB ports. :( Shouldn't this be in a different thread though? Is it possible you could move these last few posts, beemie?
bmwracer wrote:
I don't think there are many (any?) recorders that have a USB port...
My brother's Philips DVD player has a USB port on it, which is sorta cool.
bmwracer wrote:I'm not sure... But I've never had to consciously finalize any disc to use it on my PC...
cori wrote:So now I'm editing some old Docchi episodes I plan to send shin2 and I'm now recording the Asakusa Fukumaru Ryokan 2 video tape that Tu sent me to DVD and I'm going to edit it some time this week. :victory:
ETA: It looks like I have to finalize the disc because it's not reading on my laptop. Maybe I should use my older (and more unstable) DVD recorder for these projects since it seems to not need finalization in order to be copied. Only thing is, it doesn't have the SVHS plugin thingy.
bmwracer wrote:I thought you were done with Asakusa 2....?
Are you using DVDRs or DVDRW discs?
I use DVD-RAM discs when I record stuff on my Panasonic.
cori wrote:I was using DVD-RW discs. I don't have DVD-RAM ones; are those able to be rewritten too? If so, maybe I should get some of these. Also, I use a JVC DVD recorder and from what I can tell so far, I need to finalize stuff before it can be viewed with my computer, so I hope with those DVD-RAM discs solves this problem.
