Uh, copying a DVD just involves copying files... What's the big deal? :headscratch:
I would assume it's a big deal if that copying time is much faster than what his home computer is capable of :victory:
I only have one disc drive, so I have to through the process of extracting the data onto the hard drive first, then switch the original with the blank to start copying :puppydog:

Exactly :)

That's basically what i'm doing. I asked for 2 DVD drives for my comp, but that request was rejected :(
I'm surprised that there was no eyeroll emoticon here. :P

But copying pretty much is just data transfer and isn't CPU-intensive at all.
I second this. If it were CPU-intensive then I'd be hauling this old crappy desktop into the trash instead of using it to primarily copy DVDs for people.
On topic: I'm working on the video tape to DVD project. 4th episode out of 12, I think. I wish it wasn't a realtime thing..
Set the recorder to record then walk away. Come back in an hour. Repeat.
Well, I have other things to do with that DVD recorder and I just wish it were quicker so I could move on to another project. Besides, I'm using my brother's S-VHS machine and I don't want to overuse/overheat it since it's not easily available and probably expensive to replace if something happens to it. That's why I'm only using it a couple hours at a time. I don't care if it sounds stupid to you that I'm babying it, but it's what I feel like doing.
^ I'm sorry for my above post. It was rude and I felt bad about it. :(
On topic: I got 4 episodes of Shuumatsukon from video tape to DVD format today. Only 3 more episodes to go! I just wish I recorded it on SP mode instead of EP because the picture really sucks. Stupid me.
Also authored Osen to DVD and may start on one of the newer series as well. :victory:
This morning, I find my Panny DVD recorder no longer powering on. :shakehead: Replacing it would cost ~$200.
Luckily, I used the power of the Google and found that the problem is likely a busted capacitor. So I'll be heading down to Radio Shack to buy the piece and hope I remember my soldering skills. Go Google! :woot:

If course, maybe replacing the recorder might be a good thing: you could get one with an ATSC tuner. :victory:
I have to thank beem & AD for all their help with that Video Wizard program and that other one with the soccer ball icon (the one to convert to mpeg). I think from now on I'm recording stuff onto a RW disc and editing it on my computer. No more commercial pauses and stuff for me! :D My only complaint is that I wish I had asked about this sooner because it would've saved me a ton of time and aggravation.
Only a few more discs and I'm done with Shuumatsukon! :dancing: What a long project this turned out to be, but definitely worth it. And following that, I need to tackle Perfect Love and some random stuff I found on video tapes. This is going to be a busy long weekend.
Why is it that when I edit everything exactly how I want it to be, the finished product cuts off a few tenths of a second from the end? This is quite annoying because I don't wish to have it cut off before it says "to be continued." I know I can just try to add more space at the end so if it cuts off, it'll cut off footage that I don't need, but that's just too bothersome and I don't know exactly how much it will cut off at the end. Any help would be appreciated.
