I tried doing another series and this one came out perfect. I tried the method that beem & Ralph suggested (use a DVD-RW first), which made it easier and smarter. Now I hope that the series that I'm having a hard time with will eventually work out for me.

What's different about the problem series? Number of episodes? apect ratio?
(Unless it's some kinda fangirl drama... There's your problem. :beaten: )

The drama is Nemureru Mori.
There are 12 episodes and I want to convert 4 episodes on 3 discs. I had no problem with the first disc (episodes 1-4) and the last one (episodes 9-12), but episodes 5-8 seem to be giving me problems for some incomprehensible reason. :grumble:

Try a test run with just three episodes and see if it works.
It might be (?) possible that the program has a problem compressing those four episodes and making them fit onto a DVD... If three episodes work, then that might be the problem.
If not, then maybe you might need to alter some of the compression settings or similar...
Have you tried burning only 3 episodes instead of 4? Sometimes the program do overburns by default when its too big.
*edit* Too slow. :beaten:

LOL.
And I type like a chicken pecking on a keyboard. :beaten:
But isn't it quite odd that 3 other discs with 4 episodes each have worked out perfectly? If at all possible, I'd prefer to keep it to 3 discs an episode. Hell, if I were able to compress things, I'd even prefer 2 discs per episode. Mostly because I'm cheap and because it'll take up less room in my CD cases.

Yeah, it's odd.
But that's show business. :beaten:
No, actually since the episodes are different, they'll compress differently... If you can (I'm unfamiliar with the program) try to increase the compression of those four episodes, to give you more headroom during the burning process... A bit far-fetched, but if you have the RW discs, it would be a good experiment. :)
Wow, 2 discs per episode.. you must've gotten that 19g Nodame torrent..

I'm trying it out again. And I'm using RW discs so I don't turn my Verbatims into coasters. Great tip, btw.

Oops. I meant 2 discs per drama series. I really should think before I type. Or at least re-read what I did.

You're not the only one who's cheap. :beaten:
I just finished the burning process and checked it. It worked this time!! Yay! :D Hopefully all the future conversions and burns will be sucessful or you guys will get sick of me posting complaints and questions in this thread. Thanks for the help and support, everyone!

Other than use a DVD-RW disc to burn it? Nope.

Hmm.
I wonder if you tried another regular DVD-R would you get another coaster...
EDIT: You mgiht be burning your Verbatim at too high a speed: try 8X or 6X.... :victory:

The burn speed that I noticed ConvertxtoDVD used was 2x, so it was definitely not that. Unless it was burning too slow? Or maybe the Verbatim disc is used to higher burning speeds?
slower is usually better. I dont burn 16x at any higher than 8x.

Not likely.
The DVDRWs typically burn at 4X, but the Verbatims can burn up to 12X, I believe, but I only use 8X at most.
I don't know what kind of DVD and burner you have, but for my part even thought my burner supports 1X to 16X, the blanks I have only supports 4x, 8x and 16x.
You can download dvd info. Put a blank in the drive and click it should tell you what kind of burn speeds it supports.

Yay cori! Keep it up, girl :)
