Thanks, but no need to... I've got things under control... :)

Done with authoring Galileo... Just gotta burn some discs and I'm done. :victory:
cori wrote:Yay! So the initial authoring that you did was just a fluke, right? :)
bmwracer wrote:
Nope.
All of the hardsubs had to have their video and audio separated and processed individually before authoring... A little more time consuming, but I got the results I wanted... :)
cori wrote:Wow, you're awesome! :applaud:
cori wrote:Tried authoring Fukigen na Gene yesterday, but during the second episode, the subs were in random Japanese characters, so I think either I or someone else saved it with the wrong encoding. Probably UTF-8. That really irked me. Also, episode three wasn't watchable at all. Ah, the joy of DVD authoring. :banghead:

I've run into that problem as well... I always import each and every file to Word make sure they're in ASCII and not spelling-challenged. :victory:
cori wrote:I really should check the subs and everything before I attempt to author it, but I'm just too lazy. In the end, I waste several hours of my laptop's time. :(

You just answered you're own question...
It's like painting (a room, house, etc.): It's all in the prep work. :victory:
cori wrote:What's even worse is I didn't read that it was the KOREAN subs, not English ones that I had. I think that's another resolution down the drain (stop being such a ditz). :shamefulcry: And great. Now the English subs are actually in ENGRISH. Oh, I am really looking forward to editing this. I'll probably put it on the backburner. :usuck:

No real English subs to be had?
cori wrote:Nope, not that I can tell. Hopefully someone can translate the Engrish into English because that would take up too much of my time and patience. :grumble:
Wynter wrote:What does "Authoring" actually refer to?
bmwracer wrote:
My definition would be to take the MPEG2 files and create a DVD-Video disc (one that can be played on any standalone DVD player)... The disc would have titles, chapters, etc... Stuff like a store-bought DVD would have.
Wynter wrote:
O! Okies, then. So I sorta know how to author then. :victory:
I'm authoring Kuitan 2 for Keps right now, and I'm praying the subs will work this time. When I did them for A-Oyaji, the subs kept showing as yellow over yellow, even tho I had manually set them to be white on black. I dunno why that glitch occured.
I did the authoring three times, and still the same problem. In between I authored another drama, but had no problems. Must be the Kuitan files specifically.

Hmm, I didn't have a problem with either season... It was pretty straightforward...
