| 1. | Comments by estranged [Rating: 9/10] Slow moving but a very real show. Great complexity in the various characters. I'd never imagine that I enjoyed this slice-of-life show so much! |
| 2. | Comments by Dorobou [Rating: 9/10] I thought the pace was slow, but I was pretty much led to that pace and have enjoyed it until the end. |
| 3. | Comments by atleast13 [Rating: ?/10] currently watching |
| 4. | Comments by athida [Rating: 8/10] It's pretty good. It's Nino. Do I need to say more? |
| 5. | Comments by aoiharu [Rating: 10/10] really love this dorama. it's got a bit of humor and warmth to it. nino and yokoyama is cute no matter what. |
| 6. | Comments by czajka [Rating: 6/10] Plotline was boring, but Nino and Yoko were amazing! :) |
| 7. | Comments by loveaomori [Rating: 10/10] They are here!! at my work!!
Listen Listen!! All the actors are here!! I work at the french institute of Tokyo near Kagurazaka and... Kuroki chan and Ninomiya are here!! They're filming!! I shook hands with them! So greet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 SHIAWASE! Kuroki is so cute! I gave her my job card ( meishi)! so friendly people! I'm so excited!! |
| 8. | Comments by Susan [Rating: 10/10] Haikei, Chichiue-sama's complex story and interesting characters really drew me in. I was impressed with the level of intelligence written into the series. It wasn't the usual romantic comedy/drama that I had come to expect from Japan. It was actually focused on real-life problems and what made it fun to watch were the characters. Although they weren't written to be clowns, it was their everyday reactions and interactions with each other that made them so amusing. The entire cast did a superb job. My only disappointment was the inconclusive ending, but I can see the reasoning behind it and I would be happy if it was left there or if a special was produced to tie up loose threads. |
| 9. | Comments by Hemilya [Rating: 10/10] Personally I think everything Nino has taken place in is simply gorgeous, but 'Haikei, Chichue-sama' really is a great dorama. With it's slow pace and complex characters, those fragile and delicate emotions... You know what I mean if you've watched 'Yasashii Jikan'. And if you've liked it, then 'Haikei, Chichue-sama' is a must watch for you. |
| 10. | Comments by hanijun [Rating: 10/10] oveaomori!!OMG!!!you shook hand with nino!!kyaaa!~
i loveee this drama! |
| 11. | Comments by onigiriman [Rating: 9/10] Kuramoto Soh is back. Hope this is as good as Yasashii jikan.
EDIT: I'm at Episode 5 and this is becoming an enjoyable drama |

| 13. | Comments by ainangst [Rating: 9/10] wonderfull! |
| 14. | Comments by mmyy [Rating: 9/10] I find this drama highly amusing and hillarious, with a very poetic style to it. The show has a lot of depth and the music is beautiful. It's the first Nino drama that I've completed, and it made me realise just how awesome an actor he is. In every episode, he never failed to amaze me. |
| 15. | Comments by ct_subang [Rating: 3/10] Man...one helluva slow story...styd thru it just wanted to see more of
Nino...worth watching??naahh...next.. |
| 16. | Comments by Eyeyore [Rating: 8/10] Thanks for the info on Ippei.
I think i will watch it again, not for the story which wasn't properly researched developed and went round in circles. There is a thick Japanese flavour to it, whether in terms of speech, body language, decor, ornaments. The production set took care of so much details that it's worth a second look. The other reason for watching it again is the lady boss, a former geisha. She can be funny without betraying her kimono facet. |
| 17. | Comments by akitsu [Rating: 3/10] Boring. |
| 18. | Comments by natni [Rating: 8/10] finished....kinda slow progress story but interesting...nino was great....love to see him....cute.... |
| 19. | Comments by natzumi [Rating: 7/10] 2 JE talents; a must watch Jdrama. 2 brilliant actors! I like the plot and the sad life of the protagonist. Yu is a great addition and adds tremendous humor into the mysterious drama. |
| 20. | Comments by afterglowmegami [Rating: 8/10] This is one of probably the best Winter 2007 dramas. It's plot makes you glued on every episode! |
| 21. | Comments by jase80 [Rating: 9/10] awesome story n cast! Beautifully filmed too, every scene portrays the depth of the plot n characters, what a way to start 2K7 off right! |
| 22. | Comments by marzie [Rating: 8/10] I first thought this drama might be pretty boring and so on, I wouldn't have even checked it out if it wasn't for Nino.
But I'm glad I did, 'cause I love it. |
| 23. | Comments by Nermal [Rating: 8/10] Turned out to be an enjoyable slow-paced drama this season. With a cast of excellent supporting actors (Takashima Reiko, Umemiya Tatsuo, Takahashi Katsumi, Yachigusa Kaoru) and even the guest appearance of Mori Mitsuko, you can expect a great drama.
Not a must-see, but enjoyable! ^^ |
| 24. | Comments by fataliste [Rating: 9/10] The first few episodes were very slow (almost torturous), but the storyline and acting carried the series as it gradually picked up. The series isn't meant to be an exciting, fast paced story but is a sobering reflection of the changing face and urbanisation of Japan, the replacing of the old with the new. |
| 25. | Comments by miriya52 [Rating: 9/10] Great drama! Great plotline! |
| 26. | Comments by aoi_dolphine [Rating: 7/10] This is a rather slow paced drama with Nino acting in it. |
| 27. | Comments by The_Lyrics [Rating: 1/10] i couldn't bare to finish this. |
| 28. | Comments by norani [Rating: ?/10] Ninomiya Kazunari |
| 29. | Comments by idetakun [Rating: 10/10] Simply one of Nino's bests!!!!
Nino, for God's sake, is intriguing~
The soul-touching story, presented by a marvellous collection of sophisticated casts and adorned by Moriyama Ryoko's harmonious bg music, is definitely a big attraction to dorama lovers.
The only harmless weakpoint of this dorama, if I were to name any, is that Yokoyama does not look like a 19~~ He is apparently older than Ninomiya-kun :S |
| 30. | Comments by sucigam [Rating: 7/10] I wasn't able to relate to the characters as easily as I was in Yasashii Jikan but it was still some what enjoyable. It's nice to see dramas that are set outside of Tokyo once in awhile =).
I believe Yokoyama Yu also had his breakthrough role in this drama, look for big things from this guy soon. |
| 31. | Comments by Kiyomi L. Denise [Rating: 7/10] Well obviously this is waaaay better than Yasashii Jikan (which i fell asleep halfway watching, pardon).
Really like Nino's hair, and all the actors and actresses were simple SUPERB.
Can sorta relate to the story, since i'm looking for my unknown father too.... |
| 32. | Comments by sadacori [Rating: 9/10] Great drama, awesome actors, and I can finally see why Nino's one of the best young rising actors out there.
(SEE REVIEW BELOW) |
| 33. | Comments by Lulurz [Rating: ?/10] too slow~
didn't finish~~ stopped after epi 3 |
| 34. | Comments by Mali [Rating: 6/10] well, not really bad, but not really good neither. Himatsubushi |
| 35. | Comments by moeru_h [Rating: 10/10] One of the best dramas I've seen. The simplicity of the events is what attracts me. I'm drawn to the mundane and the realness of seeing life as it is. Amazing drama! And Nino was so good too. |
| 36. | Comments by oldasianguy [Rating: 10/10] Nice, pleasant little drama....A story of a young man struggling to be a chef...his every day tribulations and how he tries to do his best..in a way it's every man's story...Ninomiya Kazunari plays the role of the young man and Kuroki Meisa plays the role of the girl he meets and likes...Every season the Japanese TV entertainment comes out with at least one show which is a "winner".. this drama is the winner for this season!!!!! |
| 37. | Comments by takuan [Rating: 8/10] I really liked this drama - it's directed by the same person that did Yasashii Jikan, and you can tell cause it has his style all over it. So, if you liked Yasashii Jikan, it's likely that you will enjoy this one as well. My only gripe with this is that the ending left too many questions unanswered. I frequently enjoy the occasional open-ended series, and I understand why the writer left things that way, but I still like to have at least one of the major questions posed, answered. |
| 38. | Comments by Geezer [Rating: 8/10] Not sure about this one yet. The supporting players made the show work. The lead was too weak. |
| 39. | Comments by shortmei [Rating: 8/10] Enjoyed it. Overall good acting from cast (though I must disagree on a certain few). Slow-paced, but fits for this kind of storyline. Solid drama overall. |
| 40. | Comments by nimadifob [Rating: 8/10] crazy good, crazy simple |
| 41. | Comments by nishishi [Rating: 8/10] Haikei, Chichiue-sama is a good dorama... But probably most young ppl wont like it.... since they r used to those fast passed stories.. wich Haikei is not!!!
This dorama has a beatiful story... And it gets even better after some episodes.... The casting is also superb!!! U could even forget that Haikei is just a dorama... and start believing that those ppl really exists in the real world! And thats because all the actors play their roles with amazing acting skills.!!!
Haikei is really an awesome dorama... And its good 2 watch those kind of slow progress story's dorama once in a while... Thumbs up!!! |
| 42. | Comments by selphie086 [Rating: 7/10] A slow plot like Yasashi Jikan. Watchable. |
| 43. | Comments by balflear [Rating: 5/10] Good dorama with good actors but somewhat bland (not to mention a bit wierd) plot. Has a 'hmmmm...' feeling to it. |
| 44. | Comments by irwinner [Rating: 9/10] Good despite the slow story. Gets better with each episode. |
| 45. | Comments by yurifly [Rating: 8/10] i like the storyline even though it's kinda slow sometimes. nino's expressions are priceless and yoko is funny, great cast overall |
| 46. | Comments by kireiyuhi [Rating: 8/10] The ending was way to vague. It didn't even seem like an ending. But the plot and the acting were superb. |
| 47. | Comments by rele [Rating: 9/10] Not very fast, but that did not bother at all, because there was the same nice flow of time as in yasashii jikan. At first i feared it's going to be too political, but it turned out to be fine. A bit too much side plots to my taste, but all in all solid story overall. |
| 48. | Comments by suzzy [Rating: 9/10] its a really nice drama
i it teaches u that somtimes somthing u have to know to move
and the hard ship some people have during their lives
well that is what it mean to me
and it was a great job by Ninomiya Kazunari
as usually he had u think man \
great job to all the actors as well |
| 49. | Comments by tabana [Rating: 8/10] Not as good as Yasashii Jikan, but has the same feel and quality. A nice mix of comedy and drama. |
| 50. | Comments by Wynter [Rating: 8/10] When the best written dramas I've seen. Although I didn't like the main character much, the supporting cast was brilliant! |
| 51. | Comments by pinkokoro [Rating: ?/10] COMPLETE. |
| 52. | Comments by Akiiness [Rating: ?/10] DROPPED. |
| 53. | Comments by EstherM [Rating: 8/10] A tad too slow, yet sweet!
A nostalgic look on how most things that once mattered come to an end. |
| 54. | Comments by xploring [Rating: 7/10] I really like that the streets were beautifully shot and the interesting insights into aspect(s) of Japanese culture. However, I never felt with the characters, or the struggle/plight they were in. It was by no means bad, quite enjoyable with its lighter moments, but I failed to get a clear idea of what some of the characters are like, particularly the younger ones (perhaps they were too plain/simple for my liking). I was also disappointed with the lack of resolution. There were no particular moving/touching moments for me, perhaps I expected too much. Forgot to mention, the accompanying music, particularly the ending theme song, is great. The black and white stills at the end of each episode are beautifully shot too. |
| 55. | Comments by marspeach [Rating: 7/10] Pretty good show but I was expecting more, maybe. In the beginning it was kind of confusing and I didn't really start to care about the characters until about halfway through. |
| 56. | Comments by gopro [Rating: 9/10] Very good drama showing the old and new japan.
Also shows how a young man training at a traditional "house" and his various problems that plague him and people. This was one of the only dramas, or movies for that fact that I was so attached to the characters. I postponed watching this for about 5 months due to me being in Korea. (Fin Sun, Apr 20, 2008. Only drama to watch in 8 months) |
| 57. | Comments by pochichan [Rating: 8/10] The storyline's pace is a bit slow but I'm kinda like the cinematography. Well it does show some traditional japanese atmosphere.. I just love to see how Nino reacted every time he was summoned by the granny... |
| 58. | Comments by v1olet [Rating: 8/10] A story about Ippei's life. The narrator was Ippei, just like writing a letter or diary, beginning with haikei, chichiue-sama (dear father....). A heartwarming drama with unfinished ending. Nino acted best. |
| 59. | Comments by snow_san [Rating: 6/10] Story revolves around Ippei's work; who his father might be (mother won't tell him); a brief love triangle and his first love. This is a nice relaxed drama that brings a smile here/there. With each episode, it gets more interesting with a nice twist near the end. Good cast. Credits after the final episode was a good laugh. The 6 rating is a solid C. OSU! |
| 60. | Comments by simpletoad [Rating: 8/10] i thought this was a boring drama at first , but perserverance paid off . at the end of it , there's alot to be reflected upon . not for those who enjoy skin-deep dramas . nino's acting was once again superb . he won best actor for this again , right ? |
| 61. | Comments by Cerebus [Rating: 8/10] Drama about the conflict between the old and modern set in a traditional restaurant. Ninomiya Kazunari is excellent in the lead, somewhat suprisingly as he is a Johnny. His character mainly acts as a go-between and commentator on the rest of the cast, most of whom are over 30, which is very refreshing. Yachigusa Kaoru is particularly good as the grandmother. The closing credits which simply consisted of a series of black and white photographs was particularly effective. |
| 62. | Comments by chibichan [Rating: 8/10] the idea of the story is really simple i think, and Nino as the main character plays it really good. I could feel his desperation for finding his real father, i also feel sorry for Kagurazaka and the way they tells it really moves my heart. |
| 63. | Comments by room304 [Rating: 7/10] Strangely I liked this drama very much, probably because of Ninomiya personality. He manages to cheer everyone up just by being himself. This drama isn't one of my favorites but I liked it. |
| 64. | Comments by jugatsu15 [Rating: 9/10] A lot of cooking, great actors. Good drama. |
| 65. | Comments by kyunspark [Rating: 8/10] Slow paced, but did not make you bored... Sweet enough to make you smile..... |
